Hey everyone,
I've been spending a ton of time working on the ambient sound pack I've been talking about lately, and I wanted to give you a little preview of what I've been building.
If you read my last email, you'll know the whole pack is built around five different scales. The thing I'm most excited about isn't even the sounds themselves, it's the workflow.
The lower keys are individual notes from the scale, and the black keys are mapped to chords. The more I've worked with it, the more fun it's become. You can sit down and start playing immediately. Bass notes, melodies, and chords all work together without constantly thinking about theory or hunting around the keyboard.
Honestly, I've spent way more time playing this thing than I intended to.
While building the pack, I realized I was going to need piano versions of every scale anyway, so I ended up creating five piano presets:
C Minor
C Dorian
C Lydian
C Phrygian
C Harmonic Minor
What makes these special is that they aren't just a handful of sampled notes. I sampled 24 individual piano notes for each instrument, covering nearly four octaves across the OP-XY keyboard. The result feels much more natural to play and gives a really good preview of how the full ambient collection is coming together.
The original plan was to keep these inside the full pack, but I've been having so much fun with them that I decided to give them away for free.
I've already built around 80 presets for the full collection and I'm aiming for roughly 120 by the time it's finished. The deeper I get into this project, the more excited I become about it.
In the meantime, enjoy these free piano presets and let me know what you create with them.
Thanks for all the support,
John
