Hell everyone,
Chordscapes is finally out!
The pack includes around 180 OP-XY presets, organized into five folders so it’s easy to find exactly what you need:
- Chords Keys
- Bass
- Keys
- Leads
- Pads
Chords Keys is the main folder and the heart of Chordscapes. It contains 80 different instruments with single notes on the white keys and full chords on the black keys.
Every preset stays within one of five scales:
- Minor
- Harmonic Minor
- Dorian
- Lydian
- Phrygian
The Bass, Keys, Leads, and Pads folders give you sounds built around those same scales, so you can choose a main Chords Keys instrument and quickly find other parts that fit with it.
The Keys folder also includes plucks, flutes, synths, and other sounds that go beyond traditional keyboards. I kept the category name simple so the collection would be easy to browse.
Everything starts in C, but the presets can be transposed directly in the OP-XY settings to fit whatever key you’re working in.
I designed Chordscapes to be more than a large group of presets. I wanted it to feel organized, playable, and useful as a complete writing system for ambient and electronic music.
Choose a scale, find a sound that inspires you, and start building around it.
Thank you for all the support while I worked on this. I hope you have as much fun playing Chordscapes as I had creating it.
John
